A MULTITUDE OF COLORS / COLORS IN HOME DESIGN

The Hebrew word Tzeva (color) is made up of almost the same letters of the word Iztuv (design), and not in vain. Each color has a different message and energy, and if we become aware of the inspiration of each of the colors on us, we can use it wisely in home design.

Therefore, when we are about to design a house built according to the 'Light in the house' method, we also consider the colors of the walls, tiles and furniture in the various rooms of the house.

According to the Kabbalah, each of the ten Sefirot has a different color, which expresses the energy of that Sefira.

To get a taste of this magical and spiritual world of colors, we will review six basic colors here:

Blue, red, yellow, purple, orange and green.

We will see how 'Feng Shui' defines each color, and to which Sefira of the Kabbalistic Sefirot it is attributed.

The picture that emerges is a beautiful match between Feng Shui and the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Blue: A "flowing" color according to Feng Shui. In Kabbalah, the color blue corresponds to the count of Chesed (grace), which flows from top to bottom, like the flow of blue water.

Red: In Feng Shui, the main feature of red is "dominance". According to the Kabbalah, the color red corresponds to the count of Gevurah (heroism), and it expresses the color of the intense blood, as well as the color of the wine that enhances and strengthens human feelings.

Yellow: "Optimistic". According to Kabbalah, this is a color that corresponds to the count of Tiferat (glory), associated with the east side – symbolizing sunrise and renewal, like a newborn baby. A man wakes up and walks out into the cool morning air, sensing the dampness of the dawn, and is filled with optimism. In the language of the Gemara, a happy person is called a person who’s “Face has become yellow."

Purple: "Empowerment". According to Kabbalah, the color corresponds to the Sefira of Netzach (eternity), which symbolizes ‘things that last forever, and victory.

The power of this color, is the secret of victory and eternity.

The people of Israel are called “Am Segula” (a people of virtue-eternity). Segula (virtue) is similar to the word Sagol – purple.

Orange: "Friendly". According to the Kabbalah, the orange corresponds to the count of Hod (majesty) which symbolizes innocence, that allows for confession of truth and confession of sin.

Netzach and Hod - eternity and majesty are called in the Torah of Sod (the secret Torah) "depth of above" and "depth of below" and reflect in their deeper meaning the purple and orange: the color purple is able to elevate us to the heights of heights, while the color orange keeps us from a painful fall. The orange symbolizes the floor, the surface upon which we are standing. He who lives in an inner awareness of "submission-below" - who sees himself under everyone and deserves nothing, will surely be very friendly; In contrast, a person who feels above everyone else, will not be able to be friendly to others.

Green: Feng Shui calls it "relaxing", the color of nature. According to the Kabbalah, the green corresponds to the Sefira of Yesod (foundation), which is attributed to the west side - the side where the day is nearing its end, becomes quieter with evening, and the world prepares for rest. The person at the end of his life also becomes more considerate, more mature, more relaxed.

In the sages' literature, there are two types of green: "green as a leaf" and "green as an egg yolk."

The ‘leaf green’ is what we nowadays simply call ‘green’, and the ‘egg yolk green’ is known as yellow.

As mentioned above, the color yellow corresponds to the Sefirta of Tiferet (glory) and the green to the Sefira of Yesod (foundation). There is a close connection between the Sefirot Tiferet and Yesod, which correspond to the east and west sides. The Torah names them 'Kedem' and 'Achor’ – east and west.

In the Kabbalah, three other important colors are mentioned, without which, the color spectrum is incomplete, and they are:

Brown, black and white.

Brown: the color belonging to the Sefira of Malchut (royalty), located at the lowest point in the ten-Sefirot chart. Just as color brown, which is basically a blend of all the other colors together, and is also the color of the earth that absorbs and absorbs everything into it, so the Sefira of royalty or sovereignty, contains the energies of all the Sefirot put together, while it has ‘Leit Migarma’, as the Kabalah calls it – nothing of its own.

Black and white are the colors that according to the Kabbalah, correspond with the Sefira of Da’at (wisdom), which is at the top of the chart of the Kabbalistic Sefirot. The Sefira of Da’at is the source of Chasadim and Gevurot - graces and heroisms, with grace being represented by the color white, and heroism by the color black. The mind unites within it those two poles - the black and the white, the grace and the heroism - and all the infinite shades of the mind are in shades of gray.

The explanation brought here, is just a small window into the wondrous world of rainbow colors and their effect on mood and consciousness. The idea we share here is meant to get you inspired from these ideas and colorful thinking, which can help with the design of your house, each in its own way.

Knowing, for example, that the color blue creates an atmosphere of a flow, green is soothing and purple can intensify things, you can combine these colors in home décor, both in house walls and in portable furniture, thus changing the energy of each room and room in the house, depending on its purpose and on personal and spiritual taste.
